Who was Floyd Fitz? Enigma of the Caddo River

This short film is a back log of video footage that I’ve been releasing the older footage on The 8088 Record Collective YouTube channel.

Looking in the used cassette tape bins at small-town thrift stores can expose a hidden world of lost voices and ghostly apparitions. This documentary explores the tragic life of an enigmatic country music artist lost to obscurity. All the remains of Floyd Fitz are a handful of recordings and the legends passed down by the local residents.

Already Dead Tapes releases Document II

“As we march along on our mission to create a diverse and expansive creative community, we reach a new milestone: 200 releases. To this end, we bring you ‘Document II’, a retrospective cassette that comes with a Golden Ticket good for downloads of our last 100 releases. This is a one-time limited edition of 200 golden cassettes with hand numbered gold fold j-cards and golden tickets.

The mix itself is a collection of just a few of our favorite tracks from the last one hundred releases, a diverse collection of tracks that span genres, from artists all over the world. As always, thank you for listening.”

Music: Track Test with Fostex Model 80

my Model 80 has seen better days. she’s old. tracks two and seven are all but dead save for the weak and distorted signal trying desperately to be heard. tracks three and eight fair better but push the definition of usable (and that’s a very loose definition). this track test is also to get a feel for the room and how it sounds. i used one CAD GXL2200 cardioid condenser mic and centered it in the room making slight variations in placement while bethany and i would tinker with the random acoustic instruments.
